BECOME A MERCHANT

It's quick and easy to apply to accept the American Express® Card.

Please have the following information available so we can set up your account:

  • The name, home address and business address of the owner or authorised signatory of your business.
  • The passport number or driver's licence number of the owner or authorised signatory of your business.
  • A copy of a bank deposit slip, voided check or bank statement for the bank account where you would like American Express to deposit your funds.
  • A copy of your Memorandum of Articles and/or Memorandum of Associations of your business (for company)
  • A copy of Trade License (for sole-proprietor)
  • Copy of TIN Certificate of your company or personal TIN certificate in case of proprietor.
  • Photocopy of National ID of authorized signatory of your business
  • 2 copies of passport size photographs of authorized signatory (ies) of your business
  • If you currently accept plastic Card transactions, please have your electronic terminal details available - including the provider, type of terminal, terminal identification number, Visa/MasterCard merchant number and/or other Card merchant facility number.

Processing & Submitting Transactions

Look out for the following while processing and submitting transactions

  1. Check the Card for anything unusual
    • Make sure the Card is not visibly altered or mutilated
    • Make sure the Card's expiry date is valid
  2. Swipe the Card through the slot in your terminal
    • Contact City Bank Merchant Services if the magnetic strip is unable to obtain an approval code
  3. Obtain a valid approval code
    • Ensure all American Express transactions are accompanied with an approval code generated from your POS terminal
  4. Have the Cardmember sign the receipt
    • Make sure the name on the Card is the same as the one on the transaction slip
    • Make sure the signature is the same as the one on the back of the Card
  5. Return the Card and a copy of the transaction receipt to Cardmember.
